RIO RAINZ RETURNS WITH TENDER ROMANCE ON ‘MUTUAL BUTTERFLIES’

Following his star-boy streak, Rio Rainz uncovers a story of hopeless romanticism and young love’s spark on latest single and whose catalyst was any artist’s nightmare.

On those days when the universe has chosen chaos, and you’re banging your head against the wall because every little thing goes wrong, many might just crawl into bed, potentially curling into a dramatic ball, and succumb to the following morning’s forgiving nature.

Perhaps stubbing a toe, getting a parking fine and spilling the majority of your dinner before you’ve taken a bite is enough to trigger some good old catastrophizing. But what if you were an artist who had just missed your most anticipated performance of the year, at a festival with tens of thousands of people no less. Hibernating for an extended period of time would be understandable, though what might be more unlikely is taking this nightmarish experience and forging it into something beautiful. Which is exactly what UK Alt-R&B’s rising star, Rio Rainz, did.

"It was the worst feeling in the world. I came home feeling pretty upset with myself. I told myself that the next session I have, I’m going to create something beautiful to make up for what happened”, Rainz tells.

Last Friday the gifted London musician released the single in question, titled ‘Mutual Butterflies’. The track lends itself to the tender moments which spark with young love and is a short chronicle of the affection which unravels in those early days. Leaning on a series of gentle keys and laidback percussion ‘Mutual Butterflies’ compliments Rainz’s melodic yearning vocals, wrapping you into a sonically intimate experience with the London riser as he showcases his hopeless romanticism.

Having arrived on the scene at the impressive age of 15 with his Black Box freestyle, the now 19 year old has continually embraced exploration. His sound, inspired by an eclectic musical upbringing in East London, weaves between rap, R&B, dance, yet always colourful and authentic. Now on a path to lend a comforting hand to those who have struggled or are struggling in similar ways, the future continues to shine bright for Rio Rainz.
