Finn Foxell is ending 2023 on a high, with the release of ‘ROUND HERE.'
"ROUND HERE" has a bright energy, with guitar riffs leading the charge in the instrumental. Fast-paced and lively, but with a strong current of self-reflection. This is the sound Finn Foxell has been perfecting over several of his last releases, and it feels like a natural progression for him.
He grew up in a musical family, with influences from his parents and siblings alike. The result is a melting pot of sounds, including The Clash, Sex Pistols, Giggs and The Streets. These influences can be found in Foxell’s output, with the result being something truly unique in today’s music landscape.
‘ROUND HERE’ is an ode to his west London origins, as well as his family, and interpersonal relationships. The visuals, directed by Jasmina Wood, are well worth checking out. The family influence is brought to the literal, with Finn’s nephew playing a young version of him, and long-time friend and collaborator Lord Apex making an appearance.
Speaking on the video, Jasmina Wood explained,
“I aimed for the visuals to evoke a cheeky sentiment and bring back memories of being a kid in London. Growing up in London is unlike growing up in any other city, it is filled with unique challenges for inner-city kids that shape our adulthood. I can relate to that, and I hope anyone watching can too. Finn and I chose to feature his real family, friends, his actual house, and the local area. The group of young lads were Finn's nephew and his friends who had never been on screen before. There is a genuine energy between them – we couldn't have faked that.”
‘ROUND HERE’ ends Finn’s year on a high, with the track possessing a wonderful spirit, and narrative arc to it. Excitingly, there have been murmurs of a debut album from Finn Foxell in the near future. 2024 is shaping up to be a fantastic year for the young artist.
