In less than a month, Australian hardcore titans SPEED will unleash their debut full-length album, ‘ONLY ONE MODE.' Formed in 2019, the band has quickly become a staple in the hardcore scene, and their relentless drive is evident in their latest endeavours.
2024 has been a monumental year for SPEED. Fresh off a sold-out North American tour supporting Knocked Loose, the band is currently tearing through Europe before heading back to the US. Their recent singles, “REAL LIFE LOVE” and “THE FIRST TEST,” set the stage for their highly anticipated album with their third single, “DON’T NEED,” adding to the anticipation with an explosive track that underscores their commitment to authenticity and hardcore culture. Reflecting on their journey, the band shares:
“We've been going to hardcore shows and playing in bands for most of our lives now. When you do this long enough I guess you get a pretty good understanding of who you are, what you stand for and why you're involved. Now, somewhat suddenly we have a lot more outsiders finding out about our culture for good or for worse. We don't need you or anyone to tell us how to navigate that. Cus to us, the meaning is the same as it’s always been. We are hardcore kids in a hardcore band from Sydney, Australia.”
“DON’T NEED” is a groove-driven anthem with infectious aggression, reminiscent of hardcore legends like Trapped Under Ice. The song’s video, directed by Jack Rudder, Thomas Elliott, and the band, captures the raw energy of their live shows, highlighting the synergy between SPEED and their fans.
SPEED’s meteoric rise is fueled by their dedication to their friends, family, and the Australian hardcore scene. As they prepare to release ‘ONLY ONE MODE,’ they’re poised to make an even greater impact on the global stage, proving that their intense, fast, and hard approach resonates far and wide.
Their commitment to authenticity and relentless energy promises an album that not only honours their roots but also pushes the boundaries of what hardcore can achieve.
