Showcasing the talent and potential of two young artists from either side of the Atlantic, 'day+night' pushes the boundaries of R&B with an infusion of Sexy Drill.
Self-produced by Reuben, the pair find a balance between their sounds to create something entirely unique. "I've been working day and night, to buy some time" stands out in the song's hook, with Reuben providing a hugely relatable message.
Speaking on the collaboration, Reuben expressed:
“I wanted to make something different that still has a bop and captures themes people can relate to. Time is the most precious thing, and it can’t be bought. That message is important to me, and I need to remind myself of it sometimes. Me and Joeyy had wanted to do a song together for a while. Working with him is always fun, as we’re twins from different countries. It comes very naturally to us.”
The visuals saw the pair come together with Will Norman for a heavily sci-fi influenced and VFX-heavy offering. The result is exceptional, with the 'day+night' video standing out as one of the most unique visual offerings from the scene this year. The self-produced fusion of genres, relatable messages and innovative visuals, all stand as testament to Reuben's potential as one of the next stars of UK music.
With the catchy hook from 'day+night' sticking in the memory, news of Reuben's upcoming debut project is massively exciting. What will the future look like for these up-and-comers? Only time will tell.
