Manchester-based artist Ruby Joyce is making waves in the music scene with her unique take on dream pop and shoegaze rhythms. Inspired by some of the greatest names in the genre such as The Smiths, The Sundays, Alvvays, and Holly Humberstone, Ruby's music is all about normalizing vulnerabilities and insecurities.
Her latest release 'Boy Pitch' is a prime example of this, with the lyrics inspired by her best friend's mental health struggles. In an interview, Ruby reflected on how she stopped offering unqualified advice to her friend and instead took her mind off everything by talking about boys. The lyrics are based on actual conversations Ruby had with her friend and are a beautiful representation of the power of music to heal and comfort.
Ruby's live performances are nothing short of mesmerizing, with her "spellbinding vocals" and "sultry, emotional records with an unwavering intrigue" leaving audiences in awe. Having been featured on The Voice UK and shortlisted for Truck Festival 2022, Ruby's star is definitely on the rise.
She recently supported Eva Lazarus at YES Manchester on the Brandy Kisses tour, where we were lucky enough to catch her live and from that moment haven't been able to take our eyes off her waiting for her next move.
With her innovative sound and meaningful lyrics, Ruby Joyce is definitely an artist to keep an eye on. If you haven't already, make sure to check out her latest release 'Boy Pitch', and prepare to be blown away!
