London-based electronic duo Decades, comprised of Anna Straker and Coldabank, have returned with their latest single, 'Want Me Back'.
The duo, who came together during the lockdown, discovered a unique creative chemistry that allowed them to break free from traditional pop conventions and explore their shared passion for vintage synths and euphoric club music. Drawing on their experiences as producers and live performers, Decades has crafted a sound that combines heartfelt melodies, hypnotic beats, and a touch of nostalgia.
'Want Me Back' showcases the duo's distinct vocal styles layered over rising pads, shimmering arpeggios, and a garage beat. The track emanates a bittersweet sense of euphoria and longing, resulting in an irresistible fusion of emotions. Its infectious energy and captivating sound are bound to make it a standout track during their live performances, whether it's against the backdrop of a sunset over the Adriatic or amidst the festival atmosphere of an English field in the summer. On the release, Decades say:
“‘Want Me Back" is more of a vibe than a specific story. It came about in a session with UK house magician Rules. He fired up a garage groove and we just started vibing on the Juno and the mic until we had this sick mood. It’s the party you left too soon, the summer that didn’t last, or maybe the one that got away. It’s emotional but hopeful and is best enjoyed with loved-up hugs as the sun comes up.”
With their distinct musical chemistry and their ability to create heartfelt and captivating electronic music, Decades is poised to make a significant impact in the music scene. 'Want Me Back' serves as a tantalizing glimpse into the duo's talent and promises an exciting future for their evolving sound.
