Theo Ogundipe uses ‘I.T’, the title track from his forthcoming debut EP In Transit, to set out exactly what he wants his music to represent ahead of the project’s release on 5th November.

Built around hard-hitting drums and melodic production, ‘I.T’ draws directly from Theo’s own experiences, ambitions and setbacks. Rather than treating music as an extension of his work elsewhere, the track places his perspective at the centre.

“The title track of the project is a declaration of intent. It serves as an introduction to me as a musical artist, and my mission - a memoir of everything that came before this debut, and a vow of all I promise to deliver with everything I create from here on.”

Theo produced the seven-track EP himself after teaching himself the production skills needed to shape it. Across In Transit, he moves between rap, soul and electronic influences while writing from a personal perspective that takes in identity, ambition, loss and joy.

Born in Nigeria and raised in the UK, Theo also uses the project to reflect on his experience as a Black man and the society around him. Where acting has often asked him to step into somebody else’s story, In Transit gives him space to speak directly about his own.

For many, Theo Ogundipe will still be most familiar from his acting work, including Top Boy and Mickey 17. He is also due to take on the role of Cinna in The Hunger Games: On Stage from 23rd October. That context matters, but the focus here is firmly on the music and the way Theo is shaping it for himself.

That makes ‘I.T’ a fitting entry point. It does not reject what came before, but turns those experiences into the foundation of what Theo wants to say next.

In Transit also features ‘Plato Freestyle’, ‘OFB’, ‘L.A.’, ‘AFY’, ‘ROCA’ and ‘PIF’, with the full seven-track EP arriving on 5th November.
