Stüssy × Denim Tears Might Be One of the Brand's Strongest Recent Collaborations
Fishing trips, family memories and a standout orange jacket. Stüssy and Denim Tears return with a Fall/Winter 2026 collection that brings some much-needed excitement to the brand's recent output.
Stüssy hasn't been short of releases lately, but few have given us much reason to get excited. Its latest collaboration with Denim Tears is a different story. With a standout orange fishing jacket, a lookbook rooted in personal memories and some of the strongest styling we've seen from the brand recently, there's plenty here worth paying attention to.
For Fall/Winter 2026, the two labels reunite for Stüssy Tears, a collection inspired by the fishing trips Denim Tears founder Tremaine Emory took with his father, Tracy, around New York. Those memories run throughout the release, influencing everything from the outerwear to the graphics. It's a fitting direction for Denim Tears, a label that has consistently used clothing to explore personal history and cultural identity.
Shot at Lake Canopus in New York, the accompanying lookbook places the clothing in the surroundings that inspired it. Although the collection has distinctly American roots, there's something familiar about the styling from a British perspective. The fishing jackets, practical layers and countryside setting wouldn't look out of place in rural England. It carries a touch of traditional British countrywear, an unexpected connection that makes the lookbook particularly appealing.
The orange Fishing Slicker Jacket is the clear standout. The colour catches your eye immediately, but it's the recognisable shape of traditional fishing outerwear that makes it work. Paired with matching trousers, the set stays close to its practical origins while the co-branded Double S Wreath motif brings the two labels together. It's easily the strongest look from the collection and arguably one of the most interesting pieces Stüssy has released recently.
Elsewhere, a varsity jacket, fishing vest, graphic tees and button-up shirting continue the theme. The New York Fishing Tour Hoodie is another highlight, borrowing the familiar format of concert merchandise and replacing tour dates with locations where Tracy Emory used to fish. It's a clever way of bringing those family memories into the clothing, giving an otherwise familiar streetwear piece a story of its own.
Not everything is equally convincing. The polo feels like one of the weaker additions. Next to the fishing outerwear and graphic pieces, it's an ordinary offering in a collection that otherwise has plenty of character. The strongest designs are the ones that fully commit to the fishing references, rather than settling for familiar streetwear staples.
There's still the occasional piece that feels like familiar Stüssy territory, but this collaboration has given us something worth paying attention to again. The orange jacket might be carrying much of that excitement, yet it's the story behind the clothes and how convincingly that translates into the collection that makes the wider release worth discussing.
Stüssy × Denim Tears Fall/Winter 2026 launches on Friday 16th October at 10:00 BST through both brands' websites and selected stores.
