SONGER’s latest release “SKALA” is the talk of the town in the UK rap scene, and it's not hard to see why.
At just 22 years old, SONGER has already collaborated with one of the greatest grime artists, D Double E, and his music has been praised across national radio and press. He is even set to play his biggest hometown stage at Reading Festival soon.
With all these achievements, SONGER is showing no signs of slowing down and has released his new album, “SKALA”.
The album is a continuation of SONGER’s journey so far, and he has achieved incredible feats, such as accumulating just shy of 20 million views on one of the most explosive Bl@ckbox Freestyles, selling out his debut UK headline tour in minutes, and building a cult-like fanbase of die-hard SONGER fans. All of this was done without a label, booking agent, or strategy, just authentic artistry.
“SKALA” consists of 15 tracks that showcase SONGER as a potent talent, demonstrating lyrical eloquence and sentimental depth. The album is a fine demonstration of SONGER’s ability to balance playful basslines with profound and deeply personal narratives.
The album lands with firm foundations laid by singles “Love Is A Lottery”, “4:59” ft D Double E, and most recently released “Golden (Soul Food)”. Collectively the tracks have received extensive praise across the media, with support from BBC Radio 1, 1xtra’s DJ Target & Sian Anderson, NME, Evening Standard, The Independent, GRM Daily, Mixtape Madness, Linkup TV, Wonderland Magazine, DMY, and New Wave Magazine. SONGER was also announced as part of TikTok’s ‘Next Gen’ list and recently sat down with NME to talk about his story so far and the album, as their “Break Out” artist. SONGER explains;
"SKALA” to me is about the evolution of my mindset and trying to enjoy the situations I am in rather than stressing about them. Attempting to be more fearless and confident, making music that more accurately reflects the better state of mind that i’m in, whilst still acknowledging the setbacks. The name came from my dog, after having a conversation that dogs really might have the best life due to their ability to make the most out of nothing. I then used her name to create a theme of that mindset, relating it to my own career, and attempting to coin that as my own way of thinking.”
From May 14th, SONGER will be commencing an 8-date tour of the UK, which will include a night at London’s very own Scala, his biggest London venue to date. Six out of the eight dates sold out on the day of the announcement, with the Scala, London show selling out within the hour – an extra date at Scala has been added due to demand. The tour will be SONGER’s second UK headline tour; his debut tour last November 2022 was an immediate sell-out, with an additional Omeara, London date added due to demand.
Following the UK tour, SONGER will embark on his debut headline European tour, which consists of five dates across Europe, with stops at key cities Berlin, Prague, Vienna, Amsterdam, and Paris.
SKALA is set to be a top 20 album in the UK official album charts, and SONGER is certainly making a name for himself in the UK rap scene. With his unique voice, authentic artistry, and ability to balance playful basslines with profound and deeply personal narratives, it's no wonder that SONGER is one of the most talked-about names in the UK rising rap scene right now.
