On a one-woman mission to take over with her four pink overall-wearing men, SOFY is keen to inject the playful sounds of classic '00s British pop back into mainstream music. Releasing her 'Bored In Colour (Pt.2)' EP, she continues to grow and bring back the much-missed classic sounds of the '00s.
Landing on the back of a career-defining moment for SOFT, with the lead-up single 'Big Talk' featuring on this year's FIFA 23 soundtrack, SOFY found her name alongside some of the biggest names from the likes of Loyle Carner, FKA Twigs, slowthai, and ROSALIA.
This isn't all SOFY has to shout about, in her 18-month timelines she made her debut at multiple festivals packing out tents with people desperate to hear her fun-infused music. Performing at the likes of Boardmasters, Truck Festival, Glastonbury, and even European festivals including Reeperbahn.
With 'Bored In Colour (Pt.2)' coming as a refined extension of her sound, we see SOFY at her most versatile yet as she truly finds her feet. Whether it be the intimate and raw 'btw' or the infectious indie pop banger 'Egomaniac' the EP has you wanting more and more as we truly get an inside look into SOFY's personality and humour.
Talking on ‘Bored In Colour (Pt.2)’, SOFY explains;
“I wanted to make a two-part EP from the offset as the first introduction to SOFY, because once I started writing songs for the first time last year it opened up a whole new world for me and I found I had quite a lot to say (shock). I’m always thinking about a million things at once but have never really been one to write them down until I discovered songwriting, so the whole Bored in Colour project definitely feels like a first diary entry in a way - a window into the weird running social commentary that’s on my mind 24/7, and a collection of my thoughts and experiences so far. Although the overall concept remains consistent with Part 1, Part 2 definitely feels like an evolution of my sound, meshing upbeat indie and Britpop with the wonky alt-pop and hip-hop influences of the first EP.”
2023 is set to be the biggest year for SOFY with this project just laying the foundations. With her headline show at Layfette coming up in March 2023, make sure you're there.
