SKEETE Balances Desire And Vulnerability On ‘VIRGO’

SKEETE’s VIRGO is out now, with the Nottingham artist moving between R&B and dancehall across a 10-track project centred on intimacy, desire and heartbreak.

Released through 10K Projects, VIRGO brings together smooth R&B, dancehall and Afrobeats while keeping relationships at the centre of the record.

That direction had already started to emerge through singles “TEMPERATURE” and “HENNESSY”. “TEMPERATURE” arrived in July with an Afrobeat-led sound, before “HENNESSY” moved further towards dancehall the following month. Together, the tracks gave an early indication of the different sides SKEETE explores across the project.

Across VIRGO, attraction and intimacy sit alongside heartbreak and uncertainty. SKEETE keeps the relaxed melodies associated with his music, but gives the writing room to move into less guarded territory as the project develops.

The release follows his 2023 project Vibes Don’t Lie and continues the movement between R&B and dancehall that has shaped much of his recent material.

At 10 tracks, VIRGO stays concise while giving SKEETE enough space to move between those sounds and the different stages of relationships at the centre of the record.
