Coming as one of the most exciting rap names coming out of London right now, SamRecks is back with the jumpy, sleek track ‘BACKPACK’ as his first single of 2023.
Following on from his viral hits ‘Love and Attention’ and ‘Would You Let Me’ last year, Recks is continuing to blend the boundaries with ‘BACKPACK’ showcasing his effortless distinctive style as he outlines the narrative of nostalgia and early personal experiences where he dipped into fashion and love interests alike. With a rare and subtle talent, SamRecks is becoming a significant name in the next-gen of artists. Talking about this latest release SamRecks said;
“The track is about going through life and reminiscing, specifically throw-back memories, detailing my journey and realisation that music’s my true calling and there is no going back.”
Making waves since his 2020 release “On Me’ he has built up a small cult following with over 80K dedicated Spotify listeners. Seeing radio play from the likes of BBC 1XTRA, REPREZENT, and Capital Xtra alongside a co-sign from UK cult rap icon Potter Payper, who played him on BBC Radio 1XTRA whilst covering for Snoochie Shy - not bad for someone who is only 22 years.
Involved in every aspect of his music from production to artwork to colour-grading the “BACK PACK” video himself, his developing interest in skating and aggressive DIY mentality recalls the likes of Tyler, The Creator and BROCKHAMPTON. With a considered eye on both music and fashion, and a debut body of work on the horizon, SamRecks looks set to continue the growing attention around him as one of the UK’s most exciting homegrown talents.
