Saint Ludo And Cap1talA Turn The Bass Up On ‘808’

Saint Ludo is back with ‘808’, linking with West London rapper and producer Cap1talA for a bass-heavy meeting of UK club music and grime that feels right from the opening seconds.

A softer vocal opens the track before Cap1talA arrives heavy and almost immediately changes its weight. He goes in hard from the off and doesn’t hold much back, hitting against an instrumental loaded with 808s, buzzing percussion and enough low-end to keep the record firmly aimed at the dancefloor.

The contrast is what makes it work. The chorus pulls things back towards that softer vocal before Cap1talA comes crashing in again with another round of hard-hitting bars. Saint Ludo gives him room rather than overcrowding the production, and he uses it. It still feels like a club record, but Cap1talA attacks it with the force of a rap track.

More importantly, the collaboration never feels forced.

Saint Ludo pulls UKG, jungle, grime and dubstep through her sets and production, while Cap1talA has been gathering pace from the rap side. He has already released an album and three singles during 2026, with more than 350,000 monthly listeners cited around the release of ‘808’. Their paths meeting here makes plenty of sense.

The track has been living in Saint Ludo’s sets for a while too. She first teased ‘808’ during her Boiler Room set in India earlier this year, before bringing it to All Points East with Cap1talA joining her for a surprise performance. The record is also set to feature in her Reading & Leeds set, continuing a run of live appearances for the track.

Saint Ludo keeps her own explanation much simpler.

‘808’ follows ‘Subliminals’, her previous collaboration with MC Kasst 8, which picked up support from DJ Mag, Complex UK, Dance Wax Magazine and BBC Radio 1. Saint Ludo has also recently supported Sammy Virji across the North American leg of his tour.

Behind that run sits Femme Culture, the independent label and party series she founded in 2016 to support women and LGBTQ+ artists in electronic music. It adds useful context to the community around Saint Ludo’s work without needing to become the story here.

But ‘808’ doesn’t need much explaining. Saint Ludo brings the pressure, Cap1talA comes in swinging, and the softer vocal running between his verses gives the track a contrast that keeps pulling you back in.

Two artists gaining ground in neighbouring parts of the UK scene, meeting on a record that suits both of them. Sometimes that really is enough. ‘808’ is out now.
