BRIXTON RAPPER RIPPA RETURNS WITH “NBAG (NOTHING BUT A GANGSTA”)

Following the release of his critically acclaimed tracks “Flows” and “My Bag”, rising Brixton rapper Rippa returns with “NBAG (Never Been a Gangster)”, another deep, meaningful single taken from the artist’s highly anticipated forthcoming EP Night Time Walk.

“NBAG (Never Been a Gangster)” is a progressive offering that further imprints the 20-year-old’s sound, intertwining reflective lyrics and clean wordplay over hard-hitting instrumentals, again produced by UK icon Toddla T who reached out to work with Rippa after coming across London author and journalist Ciaran Thapar’s book Cut Short, where Rippa, aka Jhemar Jonas, is the main protagonist.

“NBAG (Never Been a Gangster)” further underlines Rippa’s progressive mindset as an authentic product of London’s inner city postcode wars, a catalyst for his urge to escape the cycle of violence that links to his current role as a Brixton council activist and youth worker.

The South London musician has blazed a significant and resonant path in the landscape since his initial releases this year with the likes of Complex UK and GRM DAILY all championing what feels like a true UK rap success story. Elevating himself from personal circumstance to a position of influence and change, Rippa is defining himself as one of the most important homegrown artists to emerge this year.
