Poppy Ajudha is back with a vibrant new track that’s already making waves. Her latest release, "Girl Next Door," is a captivating pop anthem that delves into the realms of queer love and stepping out of one’s comfort zone.
'Girl Next Door', which showcases Poppy's signature blend of heartfelt lyrics and infectious melodies, is produced by Wes Singerman and Tyler Blake Dexter, known for their work with Kendrick Lamar and Kehlani, and mixed by Mike Malichoff, who’s collaborated with Kanye West and King Princess.
Born from Poppy’s personal experiences and aspirations. Reflecting on her time in New Cross Gate and her dreams of stardom in LA, Poppy explains,
“This song was written around the time of wanting to escape from New Cross Gate to hopes of stardom in LA. I had done a few trips and realized I loved writing music there and loved the people I met. Due to the pandemic, I couldn’t travel, so I made ‘Girl Next Door’ on Zoom with producers Wes & Tay, who I’d connected with during a previous trip.”
With a strong narrative revolving around falling for a girl who moves in next door and the inspiring journey of discovering one’s queerness and dreams. The catchy lyric hook and melody were conceived during a spontaneous moment after a charming first date. This personal connection makes the song not only a tribute to queer love but also a metaphor for chasing dreams and embracing new possibilities.
Poppy Ajudha continues to shine as a significant voice in British music with her latest release, "Girl Next Door," not only reinforcing her musical prowess but also offering a fresh perspective on love, ambition, and personal growth.
