Oliver Keane is back, and he’s bringing the heat with his punchy new single, ‘ROMEO.’ This track isn’t just another release; it’s a bold statement from a young artist who’s quickly carving out his space in the indie music scene.
Paying homage to his musical inspirations like Catfish and the Bottlemen, Circa Waves, and The Academic, ‘ROMEO’ is a euphoric, high-energy anthem that’s bound to resonate with fans and newcomers alike. Keane, a 20-year-old singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist from Derby, has been on an upward trajectory that shows no signs of slowing down. ‘ROMEO’ arrives at a significant point in his journey, marking a moment of artistic liberation for Keane, who’s been battling the pressures of perfectionism. Reflecting on the release, he shares,
"I’ve realised what matters is putting my heart and soul into the art and letting the beauty of subjectivity decide who enjoys it and appreciates it. It makes me so proud to release ROMEO, an imperfect song about an imperfect relationship, for all of your imperfect brains to enjoy and listen to. There is beauty in imperfection.”
The song, which has already become a fan favourite at his live shows, brings an electrifying energy that’s hard to ignore. As soon as the drums kick in, you can feel the crowd's anticipation, a testament to the power of ‘ROMEO’ as a live experience.
“I wanted my own song that lifted the crowd every night without fail,” Keane explains. “After writing ROMEO, we decided to put it in the setlist for the Sea Girls tour. As soon as the drums came in at the start, you could see everyone in the crowd get excited, and that was the moment I realized ‘ROMEO’ was that song.”
Keane’s journey this year has been nothing short of impressive. From supporting Giant Rooks on their European tour to touring the UK with Sea Girls, his live performances have been met with growing enthusiasm, solidifying his reputation as one of the UK’s most promising new artists.
Oliver Keane is on the brink of something big. With a sound that’s both familiar and refreshingly new, he’s poised to make a lasting impact on the indie music scene. ‘ROMEO’ is just the beginning; there’s no doubt we’ll be hearing a lot more from him.
