Oculate UK: This Week In Music

And just like that, the weekend rolls around again! Was it a week of highs, or a week of lows? Either way, you'll be pleased to hear that there's some delightful new music for you to marry with your moods, whether merry or miserable.

You can learn how to Act Right with Sasha Keable, Get Loose with Cheetah & Nia Archives, or embrace your MAMAS BOY with Finn Foxell.

We'd recommend starting with Oculate UK's This Week In Music playlist, and taking it from there - find it at the bottom of this page.

Welcome to This Week In Music.

Sasha Keable - ACT RIGHT

Sasha Keable

First on today’s agenda: learning how to take absolutely no bulls*t when it comes to love, courtesy of Sasha Keable’s newest single, Act Right. Not to be dramatic...but I’d like to pre-warn anyone spending more than 10 minutes with me this week, because I’m about to become a completely shameless broken record of this feat in queer R&B magic. ‘Act Right’ is sensual, unapologetic, and vocally immaculate, (all the things we love about Ms Keable), and honestly, my only gripe is that the South London Latina didn’t make this song longer. We love you, Sasha!

Cheetah & Nia Archives - Get Loose

Cheetah & Nia Archives

GET LOOSE. This may already serve as a summary your upcoming weekend plans, but now it's also the name of a new track from Cheetah & Nia Archives. Arriving as the first release from Nia's label, UP YA ARCHIVES, it's a proper junglist heater due to light up crowds all through the summer. Nia has a very impressive habit of dropping whopping tunes, and Cheetah seems to have the talent to follow in her footsteps. We've started playing this one today, and I don't think we'll be stopping for a bloody long time.

Finn Foxell - MAMAS BOY

Finn Foxell

It's a momentous occasion for West London's Finn Foxell, who today delivered his debut album MAMAS BOY. We have a full-length review of this coming to the site very soon, so I'll keep this very brief; this is a very special body of work from an artist who deserves all the success coming his way. Tap in now.

TR Gobrazy - Handbag

TR Gobrazy

If your FYP sees you on the UK Rap side of TikTok, you'll likely have heard TR Gobrazy's new offering teased for a while now. With a deep authoritative voice, on Handbag TR goes in over stuttering jerk-inspired production. Despite having a seemingly perfect voice to be in the booth, TR began behind the laptop, racking up a stack of impressive producer credits. Perhaps most notably, he's a co-producer of Dave and Central Cee's anthem Sprinter. This is a man who can clearly do both, and with the momentum from this one his 2025 is due to be massive.

Ayra Starr & Wizkid - Gimme Dat

Ayra Starr & Wizkid

Yeah this ones a f*cking VIBE. Ayra Starr and Wizkid??? Gimme Dat! Two of the biggest and best in Afrobeats join forces and the result is a summer-tinged sizzler. You may notice the classic sample from Wyclef Jean and Mary J. Blige’s ‘911’, utilised excellently in this one to make production worthy of the artists. Anyone else started on their summer 2025 playlists? Because this one's a shoo-in.

DRIIA - Butterfly To A Flame

DRIIA

Calling all 90s and 00s babies, as well as any emotionally layered club rats. DRIIA has just dropped her answer to a transcendental dancefloor experience with her BUTTERFLY TO A FLAME EP. With inspirations like Massive Attack and The Verve, combined with her affinity for Jungle, trip hop, and DnB, DRIIA is reviving the sounds that raised her with a new-age spin and stark authenticity. This latest release is a sweet and glittery cocktail you can cry, dance, and journal to, all in the same breath if necessary. And with an impressive résumé that includes stints as a DJ, producer, singer-songwriter, and sound bath host, DRIIA is a name you’ll want to know, and one whose breakthrough moment is just around the corner.

KhakiKid & SOFY - Pylonz

KhakiKid & SOFY

A pairing I didn't know I needed have arrived with one of the best drops this week. Ireland's indie-rap charmer KhakiKid has called on SOFY's gorgeous indie-pop talents to create Pylonz. The pair trade words over woozy indie guitar that makes you feel like you're in a coming-of-age film from the 2010's. With SOFY fresh off the back of her excellent project Another Day In Paradise, and KhakiKid's recent Moanbag EP - this duo is only going bigger and better in 2025.

Lucy Park - Good Graces

Lucy Park

A new artist on my personal playlists is Lucy Park, and honestly, I’m sad this moment didn’t come sooner. An exciting name in alternative R&B, Lucy arrives this week with her newest single Good Graces, a blend of delicate musings on the tensions between growth and grief, paired with her whimsical vocals. I’m all over this one, and it’s a track that’s here to accompany any introspective hot girl walks you may have booked in the calendar this weekend.

Sammy Virji - Nostalgia ft. Issey Cross

Sammy Virji

If turning what felt like the entire population of Coachella into raging UKG fans wasn’t enough, Sammy Virji continues to ride the high of his Week 1 and 2 performances at the iconic US festival with the release of his newest single, Nostalgia, featuring Issey Cross. If you’ve been keeping an eye on any of the momentous live streams or viral clips from the UKG prodigy over the past two years, chances are you’ve already heard this one, with its skippy drums, sweeping violin strings, and deep, growling bassline. Virji’s been proving Nostalgia's anthemic potential for a while now, and we’re pretty confident it’s destined to become a 2026 festival favourite.

Kadeem Tyrell - KF.TM

Kadeem Tyrell

Kadeem Tyrell fans have been practicing patience since 2022, as the South London singer-songwriter returns today with his first extended project in three years. KT.FM sees Kadeem prepare a satiating feast of 90s nostalgia and new age R&B, and we had the pleasure of getting a first-person run-through of the project by the man himself at the EP’s launch party. The night was teeming with his singularly balmy vocals, all the charismatic charm of your favourite TV presenters, song-worthy anecdotes, and a list of inspirations that include Daniel Caesar, FLO, Aaliyah, No Guidnce, and the legendary Amy Winehouse and Roy Ayers. If this doesn’t convince you to listen to KT.FM, we don’t know what will.

Jeshi & Yvnnis - lost my mind

Jeshi & Yvnnis

Jeshi has lost his mind. Thankfully only in the form a brilliant new collab-track with French artist Yvnnis. It's signature Jeshi with sharp verses, whilst also punching you with a strong emotional chord. Yvnnis steps up to the mark with a vibey, more melodic contribution that complements the overall song nicely. There is no recorded instance of Jeshi ever missing the mark - today is no exception, and long may this continue.

Check out all the above, and some honourable mentions, in the playlist below:

List curated by Matt Sharp, Amalia Castle and Liam Tyler.
