MURA MASA UNVEILS NEW ALBUM 'CURVE 1' MARKING A SIGNIFICANT DEPARTURE FROM HIS SIGNATURE SOUND

Mura Masa, the visionary producer behind some of the most genre-defying hits of recent years, has just dropped his latest album, ‘Curve 1.’

Released independently through his label Pond Recordings, this new project marks a return to his roots in club music while simultaneously showcasing his ever-evolving artistic vision.

‘Curve 1’ is a significant departure from Mura Masa's previous pop-leaning projects, opting instead for a more introspective and enigmatic sound. The album is rich with the tension and release that defines great club music, featuring tracks like "Fly" and the 2-step influenced "Shuf (Adore You)." These songs serve as love letters to the club spaces, the music, and the people who make those spaces come alive. With ‘Curve 1,’ Mura Masa invites listeners to experience music in its purest form; stripped of narrative and sentimentality, allowing each track to create its own meaning. Reflecting on the album, Mura Masa shared;

"’Curve 1’ is a manifestation of an attitude I’ve been cultivating in my personal life; ignore everything. All the content, all of the attention economy, all of it. In doing that, the really meaningful and vital parts of what’s around you make themselves known and unignorable, demanding your energy. It’s my first offering as an independent artist through my own record label, and as such I wanted it to be as free and anti-narrative as possible."

To celebrate the release, Mura Masa performed a headline DJ set at Field Day this weekend, followed by a series of Curve Club DJ shows worldwide. Among these is a highly anticipated party at London's Outernet on October 19th.

‘Curve 1’ represents a full-circle moment for Mura Masa, returning to the underground sounds that initially inspired him, yet pushing boundaries with a forward-thinking approach. This project also underscores Mura Masa's standing as one of the most influential figures in contemporary music. Having recently co-written PinkPantheress’ hit "Turn It Up" and remixed Troye Sivan’s "Honey," Mura Masa continues to leave his mark on the global music scene.

With a career that includes three critically acclaimed albums, 2 billion streams, and headline performances at some of the world's most iconic venues, Mura Masa’s influence on pop culture is undeniable. ‘Curve 1’ is not just an album; it's a statement of intent from an artist who remains at the cutting edge of music. 19th, independent music releases, Mura Masa creative hub The Pond.
