Mick Jenkins, EMIL, And ENNY Team Up On ‘Words I Should’ve Said’

Mick Jenkins has joined forces with London producer EMIL and ENNY on ‘Words I Should’ve Said’, a track that pairs stripped-back production with raw lyrical honesty. It’s the second single from their joint project A Murder of Crows, landing October 3rd, and it arrives with a Flora Scott-directed video.

After the hype of last month’s ‘Coco Gauff,' a track so sharp it caught the attention of the tennis star herself, Jenkins and EMIL keep the energy moving but shift tone. Where ‘Coco Gauff’ flexed, ‘Words I Should’ve Said’ pulls inward. EMIL builds the foundation with woozy synths, clipped piano keys, and soft jazz sax, creating a pocket that feels equal parts heavy and spacious.

On top of that space, Jenkins dissects himself with trademark directness: “These ain’t the greatest parts of me but they a part of me too.” ENNY counters with her own perspective, lines cutting with a mix of anger and vulnerability: “All this anger has the countenance of demons, all this anger means that there was truly feelings.” Together, they map out a failed relationship from two angles, never sentimental, but honest in a way that sticks.

The saxophone-led chorus adds another layer, pulling the song between frustration and a strange peace with solitude. It’s understated, but it hits. EMIL’s production doesn’t overcrowd; instead, it leaves breathing room for every bar, underlining why he’s becoming such a sought-after producer.

What makes ‘Words I Should’ve Said’ hit is how cleanly it balances three strong voices without losing clarity. ENNY and Jenkins carry the storytelling, EMIL handles atmosphere, and together they craft a track that feels purposeful rather than flashy. It’s the kind of collaboration that doesn’t need noise around it' the music speaks sharp enough.
