MARTINE ROSE X NIKE COLLABORATION BREAKS GENDER STEREOTYPES IN SPORTS AND FASHION

British-Jamaican designer Martine Rose is known for her groundbreaking approach to traditional menswear and her homage to her cultural roots. Recently, showcasing her Spring/Summer 2024 collection in a North London community block, featuring unmistakable cultural references, offering a sneak peek at her upcoming collaborations with Nike and Clarks Originals.

Nike has now officially unveiled Martine Rose's latest collaboration, drawing inspiration from female football players and gender-neutral traditional tailoring. Aiming to break down gender stereotypes in sports and welcome the next generation of football enthusiasts. The collection reflects the transitional wardrobe of players, from their arrival at the destination to stepping onto the pitch.

The collection includes co-branded tonally striped shirts adorned with custom football patches, player suits with subtle indentations and Swoosh chest embroidery, and trench coats with an additional looping sleeve across the front. Accessories such as visor-like sunglasses, stockings, and gloves complete the range.

The previous releases featured white and black colourways, and now three vibrant interpretations have been unveiled for 2023. As showcased on the runway, the Nike x Martine Rose Shox Mule MR 4 comes in gradient blue-to-purple and yellow-to-orange color schemes, reminiscent of energetic 1990s goalkeeper jerseys. The mule shoes are adorned with paint splatters on the medial side, completing the third and final design.

The Martine Rose x Nike football collection will be available for purchase online via Martine Rose on July 25 and through Nike SNKRS and select retailers on July 27.
