Birmingham-born rapper Kofi Stone makes a poignant comeback today with his new single “You’ll Be Okay”, accompanied by a minimalist yet striking visual directed by Ross Carson.
Kofi’s journey into music was profoundly influenced by his Grandad’s poetry, which sparked his early interest in freestyling and writing. Encouraged by his father, Kofi had his first studio session organized by an engineer, marking the beginning of his musical career. In 2017, Kofi released his debut single "Stories In Pyjamas”, followed by “Nothin’ Ain't Free”, which quickly established him as a promising talent.
After a brief hiatus, Kofi returns with “You’ll Be Okay”, following his April release “Black Joy”. Produced by Joe Corfield, the new single is a testament to Kofi’s introspective and thought-provoking storytelling. Revealing Kofi at his most vulnerable, sharing heartfelt reflections on his deepest emotions and life experiences throughout this song, Kofi reminds us all that despite hardships, everything will eventually be okay. Reflecting on the track, Kofi says:
"I wanted to be vulnerable on this record; there’s strength in vulnerability. Creating this felt like a therapy session with myself. I wanted to bring the listener into my world and my mind, to talk about my feelings and the things I've experienced over the last few years - both positive and negative."
The video, set against a crisp white background, offers a delicate glimpse into Kofi’s most profound experiences, enhancing the song's emotional depth.
As he gears up for a triumphant 2024, Kofi Stone’s “You’ll Be Okay” not only marks another chapter of his return but also solidifies his place as one of the most introspective and engaging voices in contemporary hip-hop.
