Updated: Feb 27

Kofi Stone
East London-born, Birmingham-raised rapper Kofi Stone makes his triumphant return with his latest single, "May Sound Crazy," featuring the late great Writer, Poet, and Activist, Benjamin Zephaniah.

Produced by Joice, "May Sound Crazy" comes as an introspective and deeply layered offering that delves into Kofi's upbringing and the complexities of being a Black man in Britain.

The Ross Carson-directed video - yes, Russ from The Traitors - pays homage to Birmingham, seamlessly blending dynamic performance shots with glimpses of the vibrant community. Featuring scenes representing unity and resilience, these beautiful visuals serve as a poignant reminder of the ongoing struggles faced by marginalised groups.

Kofi Stone aims to tell his story through "May Sound Crazy," injecting a sense of Brummie pride and providing a snapshot of his life and challenges. The collaboration with Benjamin Zephaniah, one of Britain's revered cultural figures, sees Benjamin add a powerful spoken word performance to the song, making it one of his last artistic contributions.

"Working with Benjamin Zephaniah was truly a beautiful experience, It was an honor to be in the room while he recorded his verse. Everyone present could feel how powerful his words were. This definitely was a moment I’ll never forget."

Kofi Stone's return with "May Sound Crazy" and its accompanying video showcases his commitment to storytelling and addressing social issues. As an artist dedicated to reflecting his experiences, Kofi Stone continues to make a mark in the British music scene.
