Khakikid Captures The Aftermath Of An Argument On ‘Soul’

KhakiKid returns with Soul, a reflective new single that centres on the thoughts that tend to arrive long after an argument has already ended.

It’s not about the moment itself, but the version of it that plays back later. The things you wish you’d said differently, or said at all. “It’s the conversation you have with yourself a week after the argument,” he explains.

That idea sits at the core of the track. Rather than building towards a big release, it circles a feeling, letting it repeat and shift slightly each time. The production mirrors that. A soft piano line runs through the track, but the drums keep it moving, stopping it from settling too heavily. KhakiKid’s delivery stays loose, almost conversational, slipping between melody and spoken word without drawing attention to the change.

A feature from Bricknasty folds neatly into the track’s tone, adding another voice without interrupting its pace. It feels less like a traditional feature and more like a continuation of the same train of thought.

Soul follows recent singles Moved On and Favela, both building towards his upcoming EP Girl Bites Dog, set for release on 17th April.

Still early in his rise, KhakiKid has been shaping a sound that moves between humour and sincerity without fully settling in either. Raised in Dublin, his writing often pulls from everyday moments and stretches them into something slightly more reflective, without losing their edge.

With Soul, that approach feels more stripped back, it lingers on a single idea and lets it unfold slowly, without trying to resolve it.
