Known for her avant-garde hip hop sonics, and the enthralling and indulgent unpredictability of her catalogue, Hackney-hailing rapper, producer and poet John Glacier returns with her second EP of the year, titled ‘Duppy Gun’.
This latest offering continues John Glacier’s strong 2024 run that began with her 5-track EP ‘Like A Ribbon’. Much in the same vein as its free-form predecessor, ‘Duppy Gun’ embodies a similar industrial, left-field demeanour, with electronica at its core. Although stripped back and tender at times, the project’s heavy production provides a robust foundation for Glacier’s frank and intimate flow. The five-track EP sees the London-born musician atop a bedrock of dancehall, electronic, ambient and trip hop and where Glacier presents her most eminently diaristic chapter of work to date.
The release of Glacier’s latest EP comes accompanied by an atmospheric visual, for the dancefloor-facing, bass-heavy ‘Cows Come Home’. Directed by Yasser Abubeker (Kelela/Shy Girl) and starring Glacier, this latest visual paints the track’s tense and isolated backstory, of the pressures of individuality and overbearing social conformity.
Following the introduction to this new project John Glacier is scheduled to headline The ICA on 31st July [sold out], as she continues strengthening her heralded reputation with her transfixing, experimental works.
