JayaHadADream Drops New Single ‘Bug’ With The Announcement Of Debut Project 'Happiness From Agony'

JayaHadADream steps up again with ‘Bug’, a lo-fi, jazz-tinged rap track produced by New Machine that pairs laid-back instrumentation with sharp-tongued delivery. At the same time, she’s announced her debut full-length project, Happiness From Agony, set for release on October 24.

The single thrives on contrast as New Machine lays down sax lines, plucked guitars, and light percussion, keeping the beat fluid but textured. Jaya cuts against that calm with direct, conversational verses that dismiss energy leeches, doubters, and waste men. The bounce of her flow keeps it playful, but the lyrics don’t soften, as her writing pushes through with clarity and intent. Talking on the track, Jaya said;

"Sonically, it leans into UK rap with a catchy bop, built around warm saxophone lines that give it this lush, jazzy edge without softening the message. It’s slick, but grounded. About knowing your worth, watching energy shift when success hits, and still moving calm through it all.

The timing matters. After a run of 2025 singles - ‘Nothing’s Changed’, ‘The Bank’, and ‘Main Characters’ with Big Zuu - Jaya’s gearing toward 'Happiness From Agony'. The project promises 11 tracks exploring the contradictions of rising success, moving across rap, grime, garage, and electronic sounds.

With ‘Bug’, she sharpens her edge while keeping it accessible, and it sets up her debut project with confidence. Happiness From Agony looks to be more than a showcase of her talent, it’s a statement of intent from one of the most interesting new voices in UK rap.
