A BOLD NEW ERA BEGINS FOR HARD LIFE WITH THE RELEASE OF "TEARS"

hard life, previously known as easy life, make a powerful comeback with their new single and video, ‘tears’.

Despite the name change, the band's blissful blend of warped soul, hip-hop, and Murray Matravers' unique perspective remains unmistakable. ‘tears’ delves into themes of growing up and legal battles, marking the band's transition while reinforcing their core values.

The rebranding to hard life follows a well-publicised legal dispute with easyGroup, which forced the band to reassess their identity and future. Vocalist Murray Matravers candidly shares,

“Since our pretty public run-in with the well-known airline, my life has been turned upside down a little bit. Everything has been on hold. All of us have had to reassess what the band means to us and come to terms with the idea that everything has a beginning, a middle and indeed, an end. The naive optimism we had in easy life has been swapped for something more raw and, I suppose, authentic.”

The lyrics of ‘tears’ reflect this turbulent journey: “it’s a hard life, I can’t lie, it’s been a rush, in the hard times, lucky I got friends that I trust, it was easy in my 20s now I gotta lawyer up, gimme airmiles or a fair trial, ” encapsulating both the absurdity of their situation and gratitude towards those who supported them.

When confronted with the life-changing prospect of a lawsuit, Murray joked that they would just have to go by hard life, and thus a bold new era was born. The band's resilience and ability to find humour in difficult situations are evident in ‘tears’, which highlights the support they received and the absurdity of their legal battles.

“Of course, this song makes me smile, and I suppose that is my way of processing. Anyway, we’re back. Thanks for your patience,”
