New Jersey’s hardcore heavyweights GEL have unleashed their powerful new EP ‘Persona,’ marking a significant evolution for the band, blending their trademark primal energy with a more nuanced and bold sound.
GEL’s early singles from the EP, including the title tracks ‘Persona’ and ‘Mirage,’ have already garnered the attention of fans both new and old, Now, both can dive into the full experience of ‘Persona,’ a release that cements GEL’s place at the forefront of the hardcore scene.
Last year’s debut full-length album ‘Only Constant’ catapulted GEL into the spotlight, earning praise from critics and fans alike. With this latest release, the band shows no signs of slowing down, produced and engineered by Jon Markson (known for his work with Drug Church, Drain, and Jivebomb), ‘Persona’ represents the band's most collaborative effort to date. Vocalist Sami Kaiser explains the band’s approach:
“We really wanted to fill out the songs more and make them more nuanced. It’s a step forward, it’s different, it’s catchy, but it still really sounds like us.”
The result is an expanded, more intricate version of GEL’s intense, stomping hardcore sound that amplifies their ferocity.
2024 is set to be a massive year for GEL. In addition to the release of ‘Persona,’ the band has been touring extensively and is gearing up for a major North American headlining tour. The tour will feature support from MSPAINT, Destiny Bond, and The Mall, making it a must-see for hardcore fans.
