"At the end of last year, Ellie sent me a couple of voice notes with words and melodies she was singing into her phone," he explains. "She’s told me before she likes to send me vocals that I can just use as sound and turn into whatever I want, which is how our song *‘Baby’* happened. I wanted to make something that juxtaposed harsh, aggressive sound with delicate, intimate vocals.”

Goulding’s vocals shift between genres, touching on PC Music influences, Millennial pop, and futuristic 2024 production vibes, making ‘In My Dreams’ feel both nostalgic and forward-thinking at the same time.
