Irish indie rockers Fontaines D.C released their latest single Starburster last week, giving a taster of their fourth album Romance, due to be released on the 23rd of August.
Newly signed to XL Recordings, the quintet have returned with a beaming sound in full force, and this may just be their most experimental work yet. According to a press release, the track is the product of a panic attack frontman Grian Chatten experienced at London’s St Pancras Station. Starburster fuses together elements of electronica and hip hop, whilst moving through signature pop punk, slowcore sensibilities and a host of more.
This could see a whole other side to Fontaines like we have never seen before. Grian Chatten recently explained in a press release that he is inspired by artists such as Shygirl, Asap Ferg and The Prodigy, which makes all the more sense for them to now be signed to XL, home to groundbreaking artists including Burial, Overmono, Novelist and King Krule to name a handful.
You can catch Fontaines DC live this summer, as they are headlining The Park stage of Glastonbury on the Friday, and play Reading & Leeds in August, potentially preparing for an “I was there” bragging moment for fans. They will then embark on their UK and Europe tour later this year in November.
