Flat Party is back with their new EP It’s All Been Done Before, dropping on November 15th via Submarine Cat Records. Alongside this announcement, the band has released the EP’s title track, a raw and introspective piece that showcases their unique sound, filled with heavy distortion, soaring choruses, and an unmistakable sense of theatrical flair.

This second EP of 2024 follows their explosive debut in January and builds on the signature energy that has made them one of the most exciting indie-rock acts on the scene right now.

The new EP follows the release of "Shotgun" earlier this year and the band’s sold-out, high-energy single launch at the legendary Windmill Brixton in July, cementing their reputation as a must-see live act. Led by the unmistakable vocals of Jack Lawther and the sharp guitar work of Rory O'Rourke, It’s All Been Done Before showcases a band diving deep into their musical arsenal, pulling influences from 70s glam-rock, noughties alt-rock, and everything in between.

Co-produced by Chris McCrory (known for his work with Walt Disco and The Joy Hotel), the EP flirts with themes of hedonism, desperation, and romanticism, wrapped up in jagged art-rock arrangements. It’s a sonic journey that sees the band pushing their sound to new heights.

“It’s all a lot more intense than the first EP,” Lawther explains, hinting at the dramatic edge that permeates the record.

The title track, "It's All Been Done Before," is a melancholy anthem that captures the band at their most vulnerable and introspective. With searing guitar riffs and Lawther’s lyrics reflecting on intimacy and self-doubt, it’s a song that embraces contradiction.

“The music of this song is quite melancholic and unsure of itself, while the lyrics are pure love. It’s romantic, desperate, and boastful,” Lawther shares.

Flat Party has always been about escapism, with musical influences ranging from Big Star and Suede to Japanese Breakfast and The Replacements. Their sound is a wild, unpredictable blend of flamboyance, humour, and raw emotion, all wrapped in shapeshifting indie-rock. And their live performances? An unforgettable experience.

Flat Party’s 'It’s All Been Done Before' is out November 15th, with a UK tour culminating in a headline show at The Lexington on November 27th. The title track is out now; don’t miss it.
