Get ready to witness the rise of Manchester's DellaXOZ, aka Daniella Lubasu, as she unveils her brand new EP, 'DELLAIRIUM,' with the captivating single and video, 'come again.'
The 19-year-old artist made her mark with her debut EP 'THE DELLA VARIANT' in 2022, showcasing her talent for glitchy alt-pop and indie-rock fusion, all self-produced on Garageband.
With her new EP "DELLAIRIUM" on the horizon, DellaXOZ reflects on a crucial evolution in her creative process, as she collaborates in a studio environment for the first time. Working with Mack Jamieson, Alexander Headford, DRIIA, and Jessie Munro, she refines her sonic identity and explores new dimensions within her genre-defying sound.
'come again,' the latest single from the EP, explores the relatable theme of falling for the wrong person and the teenage delusions that accompany such experiences. DellaXOZ describes it as the "delulu song," capturing the essence of teenage girl delusion. The accompanying video, directed by Joe Horridge, enhances the narrative, creating a cliché coming-of-age feel with vibrant sets that pay homage to classic scenes from teen movies. Talking about the visuals she said;
"Initially, I was so nervous to shoot the 'come again' video because mine and Joe’s coming of age film idea was kind of ambitious, but it turned out to be my favourite shoot yet. Joe and Harry were great, and their meticulous planning of everything down to exact shots really helped bring my visions to life. Everything from the set design to the videography and colour grading just looked so aesthetically pleasing. Everyone on set was lovely and so invested in the work, it made things like retaking scenes because of bloopers or walking through the heavy London rain and cold in the dark to shoot public scenes actually really fun. Also, having my friends and fans there to star as extras too was the cutest and best vibe throughout the whole shoot! 'come again' is such an indie song to its core and the video matches that indie vibe so well."
Rejecting the narrative of apathy assigned to her generation, DellaXOZ infuses her music with boldness, conviction, and a commitment to social commentary. Influenced by riot girl bands like Bikini Kill and La Tigre, she channels her creativity into crafting "rage-y, riot girl feminist songs."
As DellaXOZ continues to carve her path, 'DELLAIRIUM' stands as a testament to her growth as an artist and a promising sign of more to come from this bright and wilful talent.
