After a much-anticipated wait, Grammy-winning British pop trio Clean Bandit are officially back with their explosive new single, "Cry Baby."
This time, they've enlisted the vocal prowess of Anne-Marie and the production genius of David Guetta, making this track a surefire hit for the summer. "Cry Baby" is already making waves, accompanied by a visually stunning music video directed, produced, and edited by the band themselves.
Taking listeners on an emotional rollercoaster, blending Clean Bandit's signature electronic beats with Anne-Marie's powerhouse vocals, “Cry Baby” is a poignant tale of heartbreak and resilience, wrapped in a delicate yet playful melody that contrasts with the deep pain at its core. Grace Chatto of Clean Bandit shared,
"It’s hard to express in words how much ‘Cry Baby’ means to me. It came out delicate, playful and soft, despite the song’s deep pain. It still makes me cry sometimes when I listen to it, four years on from when we started it. I’m so grateful it is finally out in the world."
The accompanying music video is a riotous journey, both literally and figuratively. Featuring Anne-Marie on a wild train ride towards independence from an undeserving lover, with cameos from train enthusiast Francis Bourgeois and Nigerian sensation Ruger. Jack and Luke Patterson, the other two-thirds of Clean Bandit, take on the roles of train conductors, while Grace serves tea to Francis and her father, who also happens to have built the train set featured in the video. It's a playful yet empowering visual that perfectly complements the song's theme.
"Cry Baby" isn't just another hit for Clean Bandit; it's a reunion of sorts. This marks the second collaboration between the band and Anne-Marie, following their global smash "Rockabye" with Sean Paul.
As Clean Bandit enters this new era, expect more groundbreaking music and innovative visuals that challenge the norms of pop music. "Cry Baby" is just the beginning, and it’s clear that this trio is far from slowing down.
