Fresh off the success of her first release, ‘goin thru things’, Chidimma begins her 2024 with ‘Mystery’.
Chidimma is a British/Nigerian singer songwriter, currently based in Kent, after growing up in East London. In her songs she provides highly captivating R&B/Neo-soul vocals, which pair wonderfully with her storytelling lyricism. This heartfelt, break-up inspired track is brimming with relatable emotions. Chidimma discusses the confusion and lack of closure she experienced at the end of her last relationship, with these themes of love and loss pairing exquisitely with her serene vocals.
In ‘Mystery’, Chidimma draws from a variety of places for inspiration, with this culminating in a sound that is unique to her. Her work possesses a certain nostalgia, with some of the production choices reminiscent of 90s/early 2000s R&B. A wonderful time for R&B, Chidimma allowing this period to influence her sound is highly effective.
‘Mystery’ is the second track released from her upcoming debut EP, ‘Love, Chidimma’. Following these first two singles, it’s safe to say Chidimma is one of the most exciting upcoming voices in UK R&B.
