UK singer-songwriter Charlotte Plank dives deep into self-reflection with her latest single, Ellen, a poignant follow-up to her recent track Stargirl.

Named after her middle name, Ellen is Charlotte’s personal letter to her younger self, capturing a time when her passion for music felt uncertain and distant. The song serves as a powerful reminder of resilience, with Charlotte reflecting on a period when she was working two jobs, struggling to break into music, and wrestling with self-doubt.
“Ellen is my middle name – signifying the girl in between,” Charlotte shares. “The song was written during a time when I had lost faith in both music and myself. I felt lost, working customer service jobs and wondering if I’d ever have the courage to pursue what I truly wanted. Writing Ellen at 20, I told myself that if I could hold on and make it by 27—beyond some of my idols like Amy Winehouse and Kurt Cobain—I’d be okay.”
Raw and introspective, Ellen resonates as a universal anthem of resilience, speaking to anyone who has felt unsure of their path but determined to hold on.
Catch Ellen live as Charlotte takes it on her upcoming UK tour, with stops at Edinburgh’s Cabaret Voltaire, Manchester’s YES Basement, and London’s Courtyard Theatre.
