Charlie Jeer And Mahalia Rework ‘Mona Lisa’ Into A Sleek R&B Cut

Charlie Jeer links up with Mahalia for a reworked version of Mona Lisa, bringing a smoother R&B edge into his jazz-house sound. The new version reshapes the track through live instrumentation and a more conversational vocal dynamic.

Built on his jazz-house foundation, the new version keeps the groove but loosens the feel. Sax lines and guitar textures move around a steady rhythm, while Mahalia’s vocal sits comfortably in the centre, adding warmth without pulling the track away from its roots.

Her presence changes how the record unfolds. Where the original leaned into atmosphere, this version feels more direct, almost like a back-and-forth rather than a one-sided performance. The vocal doesn’t just sit on top, it redirects the track’s energy. There’s a subtle shift in pace as well. Moments that might have passed quickly in the original now linger a little longer, giving the melodies space to land. It makes the track feel more personal without losing its sense of movement.

Following his debut EP, Everything Is Temporary, and a sold-out headline show at Night Tales in London, Jeer has been building momentum with a sound that sits between jazz influence and club production without fully committing to either.

Working with Mahalia adds another layer to that approach. Instead of changing direction, the track opens up, letting both styles meet in the middle. With this version of Mona Lisa, Jeer keeps the core intact while letting the vocal reshape the experience.
