A love letter to black women, Chanel Loren's 'Ebony' is a stunning blend of indie pop and R&B, leading up to her debut EP.
South-East London’s own Chanel Loren, now based in Sydney, has returned with a heartwarming new single, 'Ebony'. This track, a love letter to herself and the black women in her life, merges indie pop and R&B in a way that only Chanel can. With her angelic vocals front and centre, 'Ebony' envelops listeners in the warmth and charm that has become her signature since day one. On 'Ebony', Chanel explains:
"'Ebony' is the audio hug I needed. I wanted to create a song that felt like a conversation between me and my inner child, offering wisdom, grace, and hope. Naming it Ebony was a message to other black girls and women, reminding them that they are enough and that everything happens in its own time."
Next month marks a significant milestone for Chanel Loren as she prepares to release her debut EP, BETWEEN2WORLDS. Reflecting on the past year, which was fraught with writer's block and imposter syndrome, Chanel spent her time honing her craft and realigning her artistic vision. The result is BETWEEN2WORLDS, an EP that embodies her identity as a Black Brit in Australia and as a rising star in the R&B scene.
"BETWEEN2WORLDS is a deep dive into my creative psyche, influenced by major life events like moving countries, adulthood, and heartbreak," says Chanel. "Living in limbo between London and Sydney made me feel like an outsider, but I learned to embrace this and use it to shape my music and identity. This EP is my creative playground, where I could experiment with genres and allow myself to be imperfect and honest."
With ‘Ebony’ now available, it's clear that Chanel Loren is a force to be reckoned with, as her soulful melodies transport you to a place of warmth, introspection, and unfiltered authenticity.
