Blair Davie Delivers Heartfelt Emotion on new EP, 'You Like Ugly, Don't You Babe?'

Scottish singer-songwriter Blair Davie (they/them) today releases their highly anticipated new EP, proving that their voice is one that needs to be heard.

This EP marks the culmination of Blair’s growth and evolution over the past year. With each song, you can feel the skill in their songwriting, the richness of the instruments, and the depth and boldness of the stories being told. Blair possesses the unique ability to translate the most powerful of emotions into tracks that feel equally as impactful on an arena stage, as they do through a pair of headphones. ‘You Like Ugly, Don’t You Babe’ sees Blair expanding into a more rhythm-led sound while continuing to explore themes of love, identity, resilience and transformation.

Speaking on the EP, Blair says: "There have been moments where I’ve felt completely lost, but I’ve learned that real strength comes from being truly seen and heard for who you are, not from hiding the parts of yourself you’re afraid to show. We all carry flaws, fears, and darkness within us. But finding someone who accepts and loves you regardless can heal you in ways you never expected. I can’t wait for you to hear this EP.”

Opening with ‘When You Fall In Love’ sets the tone for a project centred on the most intimate feelings that are found in love and relationships. As the first single from the project to be released, it brings you warmly into Blair’s world, exploring healing and connection across past and future selves. Title-track ‘You Like Ugly, Don’t You Babe?’ follows, with big instruments and power felt in Blair’s voice, this indie-tinged song is meant to be sung loud. A perfect track for a live environment, the passion in Blair’s writing shines through in their delivery of the EPs central refrain. 

Moving into ‘So What?’, we continue to see a more expansive, upbeat sound while retaining the signature emotional honesty and lyrical vulnerability Blair is beloved for. Built around an infectious sense of release, the track captures the moment of choosing love when everything says walk away. Next is a soaring, heartfelt ballad, titled 'You Must Be A Miracle'. This pairs unmistakable, soul-stirring vocals with an anthemic melody, capturing the gratitude that comes with being loved through life's darkest moments. 

This emotional depth continues onto the final offering, ‘Alive Because Of You’. With a gentle beginning, the track builds into a roaring, rallying cry, as the EP’s core themes are concluded in breathtaking fashion. With ‘You Like Ugly, Don’t You Babe?’, Blair showcases their awe-inspiring ability to turn deeply personal experiences into songs that connect on a universal level.
