Beth McKenzie continues her rise as one of the UK’s newest promising pop talents with the release of her deeply emotional new video for ‘Inside Out.’
Released via Handwritten Records, the single and its powerful visuals serve as a profound statement, touching on themes of trauma, betrayal, and personal strength. With her debut EP, ‘Does This Make Me A Bitter Woman?’, set to drop on November 15th, Beth gives fans an intense, honest look into her journey and growth.
The video for ‘Inside Out’ draws viewers into a stark interrogation room, mirroring Beth’s experience with a challenging time in her life. Written about the aftermath of a sexual assault, ‘Inside Out’ captures her feeling of betrayal by those she trusted and the emotional toll of the investigation. Beth explains,
“I knew immediately that I wanted the majority of the video set in an interrogation room. It represents the mistreatment I felt from the people around me and the resulting internal conflict.”
While the project was difficult to create, Beth found empowerment in the experience, transforming a painful memory into a piece of art that resonates on multiple levels.
Manchester-based and only 22, Beth McKenzie is already making waves with her fearless, confessional style.
‘Inside Out’ is the final release before her upcoming EP, ‘Does This Make Me A Bitter Woman?’, which will also include two new tracks, ‘The Cult’ and ‘It Won’t Always Feel So Heavy.' This five-track collection promises to showcase Beth’s talent for blending indie pop with edgy, alternative sounds, all while diving into some of her most personal thoughts and experiences.
With a bold debut EP, powerful storytelling, and a string of exciting live performances on the horizon, Beth McKenzie is certainly one to watch.
