LONDON-BASED A/POLITICAL AND WHISTLE-BLOWING PLATFORM WIKILEAKS UNITE FOR 'BEAT THE SYSTEM'

Updated: Apr 4, 2023

London-based organisation a/political and whistle-blowing platform WikiLeaks are coming together to present "BEAT THE SYSTEM", an event that aims to raise awareness on the importance of press freedom and encourage the public to take an active stance against injustices around the world.

The event will take place on April 8th at EartH, Hackney and will feature live performances from Bugzy Malone, D Double E, Eva Lazarus, Lowkey, and Ngaio.

In addition to the live performances, BEAT THE SYSTEM will have an after-party with sets from popular DJs such as Flowdan, Sherelle, Gardna, My Nu Leng, Fabio & Grooverider, and Dutchie x Who Knew. The event seeks to highlight the impact that politics has on everyone, encouraging people to engage in political activism and to use music as a tool for change and empowerment.

As the world marks four years since Julian Assange's imprisonment in Belmarsh Prison, the event also comes weeks after the 20-year anniversary of the invasion of Iraq, during a moment of widening inequality and the worst strikes over pay in history in the UK. BEAT THE SYSTEM seeks to encourage young people to engage in political and artistic endeavors, empowering them to understand the realities of the world today and to speak up for their right to live in a society that is fair and just.

An a/political spokesperson has said, "BEAT THE SYSTEM will show that politics affects everyone, and we will be encouraging people to actively engage with it." The event aims to unite artists, musicians, journalists, and whistle-blowers in their fight against injustice around the world, using the power of music to create a positive change.

BEAT THE SYSTEM promises to be a night of great music and an opportunity to show solidarity with those fighting against injustices around the world.
