New York-based multi-instrumentalists Jake Stam, Matt Montgomery, and Tim Coakley, collectively known as Summerdrive, have released their latest single, "Shimmer."
Guided by retro synths and pulsating percussion, "Shimmer" showcases the band's unique fusion of alternative rock, indie pop, and 80s-inspired synthpop. With their captivating sound, Summerdrive takes listeners on a sonic journey that blends nostalgia with a contemporary twist. Talking on the take they say;
“The overarching idea of the song is chasing a feeling that has faded, whether you like it or not,” the band say in a statement about the song. “Visiting the places that you’ve been with someone, whether it be a friend or partner, and those places not holding the same meaning as they once did. Ultimately realizing that sometimes it’s out of our control how these things end up.”
Summerdrive, formerly known as Friends At The Falls, made their debut in 2018 with their EP, "Wild In Our Ways." The release of their sophomore project, "Be The Change," in 2021 elevated the band to new heights, accumulating over 4 million streams.
Seamlessly weaving together elements of alternative rock, indie pop, and 80s synthpop, with the incorporation of retro synths and energetic percussion, Summerdrive's sound captures the essence of the past while infusing it with a contemporary edge. Their ability to craft captivating melodies and thought-provoking lyrics showcases their talent and creative vision.
As they continue to explore their unique sound, Summerdrive's future holds promise, with further growth and recognition on the horizon.
